Question
A foreign national with a foreign PPL with 60 hours wants to get a Canadian commercial licence with Multi-engine instrument rating. How much roughly will it cost and any advice on schools in or near Toronto? Where is the cheapest woth fair quality. Would be nice to hear from active students or graduates. Please let me know a rough cost,,,,exam fee etc.
Answer
You need 200 hours total time, with 100 hours of PIC time, to get a commercial license in Canada. Multi engine rating can be done in 10-15 hours and can be included in the time for your commercial license. On average it costs $135 wet lease per hour and $165 with an instructor. ME time is $250 per hour (these are average prices, you can find schools cheaper than this). Just doing the math, you need 140 more hours (10 hours ME = $2500 approx, 15 hrs instructional for CPL = $2475, and 115 hours of time building = $15410.) Total approximate cost is $20385. Add in your exam fees and you are looking at close to $20500. As for schools in Ontario/Toronto area try looking here http://www.learning-to-fly.com/flight-school-directory-page2.html Hope this helps Cheers Permalink:
